Missions
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” – Acts 1:8
We believe that, as Christians, we are called to express God’s love through missions. We regularly engage in short-term mission work locally, nationally, and globally. Below are our current mission emphasis areas:
Jerusalem: Danville
Hogsett Elementary – We partner with this local elementary school that sits right in our neighborhood to share the love of Christ with the students, teachers, and staff. You can be involved in various ways, from participating in an annual Back to School Bash to mentoring students in the school one day a week.
New Hope Food Pantry – This local food bank serves families in our community and we regularly collect food to help supply the shelves. You can be involved by bringing non-perishable food items to the church or to the food pantry directly and also by volunteering at the food pantry.
Judea: Kentucky
Disaster Relief – This ministry trains volunteers to be first responders when disaster strikes. You can be involved by signing up to be trained in disaster relief and being willing to go and help when disasters occur.
Food Drive – Each year we participate with our local association of churches in the “Souper Bowl” food drive. Non-perishable food items collected during this drive benefit local food pantries, like New Hope Food Pantry (listed above), as well as God’s Appalachian Partnership (GAP), located in Eastern Kentucky. You can be involved by donating non-perishable items during this food drive.
Samaria: USA
Cincinnati – We partner with Church Project Cincinnati, a new church plant in the city, as they seek to reach unbelievers with the gospel. Teams of people travel to the city a few times a year to participate in outreach efforts with the church. You can be involved by praying for Church Project and for the people in Cincinnati as well as serving on one of the teams.
Ends of the Earth: World
Guatemala – We send short-term mission teams to this Central American country each year to work with Catalyst Resources International, a mission organization that serves children and families in rural villages. You can be involved in many ways, from praying for the mission team to signing up to go and serve!
Operation Christmas Child – Each year we collect items to fill shoeboxes that are distributed to children all over the world as kids hear the gospel of Jesus Christ, possibly for the first time. This effort is in partnership with Samaritan’s Purse. You can be involved by bringing needed items to church, participating in our church-wide packing party, or by filling a shoebox on your own.
